About Mori Chen and 4 The Gulf

After his service in the army, he traveled through South Africa and Europe, to learn about different ways to preserve nature. He worked as the Manager of ‘Hai Bar Yotvata’ for the Nature Reserve Authority of Israel, for 25 years.
In Eilat, he joined the 'Sea and Desert association'. Together they established the very successful and active youth movement - 'Gulf Rangers'.
Mori educated the Eilat youth to be sensitive towards the nature preservation and often made cleaning dives with them. Unfortunately, the municipality took over the Gulf Rangers, and they are not as active as they used to be.
Currently, Mori is volunteering at the Aqaba-Eilat Environmental Committee, the Eilat Municipality Environmental Committee and the Southern Arava Environmental Association.
Together with a diverse group of close friends, volunteers and professionals, Mori has started the nonprofit organization '4TheGulf'. Our goal is to unite the divers-clubs around the Red Sea region. Together we can protect the environment and sea life, and educate our youth. This way we can also work towards more understanding and cooperation between the countries. We believe in creating a connection between the diving clubs scattered along the shores of the Gulf for two reasons. The first is, divers speak the same language and the second is, they see the beauty and wealth of the sea and its vulnerability every time they dive or snorkel. In our opinion, through them it is easier to communicate the importance of protecting the marine environment.
Together with your financial support, 4TheGulf can become a successful nonprofit organization. We use our funds to pay for our trips to Aqaba and for our Jordanian and Saudi friends to come to Eilat to do cleaning dives together. We are working on including the Egyptian diving associations too. Joint observations of marine life, joint surveys and research, unite us. We also want to start educating the youth of the Gulf and we need to hire professionals to help us in this amazing project.
